  • Three Foundation Trustees manage funds (Terry Sabom, Rick Warren, and Michael Sharpe, all Tau initiates).
  • Distributions are allocated for student scholarships. Recipients are selected through referral by Tau Chapter's Grand Treasurer and confirmed by Trustees based on leadership contributions, scholastic achievement, financial need, and service to the community.
  • All awards are made payable to Tau Chapter as a credit for individual dues paid on behalf of the scholarship recipient. If dues have already been paid, the Chapter will reimburse the recipient.

This fund provides student scholarships; however, the funds are payable to the respective universities, rather than to Tau Chapter. All grant requests are ultimately evaluated and determined by six Endowment Fund Trustees. This is also the legal entity for the Stephen Alonzo Jackson Weekend of Giving, Founders Day, the Military Heroes Campaign, and Kappa Sigma Alumni dues.

  • This fund is a designated 501(c)3 entity, which makes your gift tax deductible.
  • Seven Endowment Fund Trustees manage funds (Bishop, Kaplan, McClamroch, McKenzie, Nascimento & Roberts, plus current WGM Adam Merillat).
  • Scholarships are awarded to undergraduates who submit applications.
  • Awards are made payable to the university that the recipient currently attends. (Theoretically, the undergraduate is an indirect beneficiary, assuming tuition has not been met in another way.)
  • Funds can be held in trust for Tau initiates if preferred or awarded to Kappa Sigmas attending other universities.
  • Naming rights start at $50,000 for a scholarship that lasts in perpetuity (or $20,000 for a scholarship lasting 5-10 years) and could be used to identify a specific scholarship or room at the Kappa Sigma International Headquarters in Charlottesville.

We have attached an estate/planned gift form for you to specify your beneficiary, the type of gift you are giving, and direct how it is to be used. If you would like to discuss these options further, please contact Michael Sharpe via email at bighornsfan@sbcglobal.com or by phone at (817) 422-1108.
